I'm ELENORA — your QUEER ICELANDIC BAKER

Partner with me for social media excellence
My journey began in a small coastal town in Iceland, where long winters and warm kitchens taught me the power of comfort and craft. After moving to London to grow as a professional baker, I trained in respected bakeries. Along the way, I carved out my own style: a blend of Nordic simplicity, queer joy, and a deep respect for good quality ingredients, nature, and tradition.
But baking has always been more than just the technique. It’s storytelling, it’s community and it’s a way to create spaces where people, especially queer people, feel at home. Doughtir grew from that vision. Every loaf, bun, cake and flaky pastry is rooted in my heritage and inspired by the stories that connect us.
From cozy pop-ups to future brick and mortar dreams, my mission is simple: I bake with care, celebrate identity, and bring people together one warm pastry at a time. Whether you’re discovering Icelandic flavors for the first time or returning for your favorite cinnamon buns, you’re invited into a space built with care, craft, and a whole lot of heart. Welcome to Doughtir by me, Elenora, where every bake tells a story, and everyone has a seat at the table.

All about heritage and roots

rooted in story

DOUGHTIR begins with my name, my roots, and the memories baked into everything I make
In Iceland, most women’s last names end in -dóttir, meaning “daughter,” and it’s a naming tradition I’ve always loved.
I’ve also always been captivated by the science of dough, the way it grows, transforms, and carries memory.
Because this is a queer rooted, women empowered small business, owned by a lesbian and inspired by my mother, who sparked my love of baking and taught me everything I know, I wanted a name that reflected all of that.
So I blended the two worlds, dough and dóttir, to create a playful, meaningful name that celebrates my heritage, my identity, and the women who shaped me. And as a bonus, it sounds just like “dóttir” does in Icelandic when you say it.
So not only are my bakes rooted in heritage and the stories that have shaped me but so is everything I do.
